LISTS: INFO & NOTES
Lists allow you to help students understand course content by breaking up walls of text and collecting related items. Lists reduce reading fatigue and increase reading comprehension.
Ways you can use visual lists in Canvas…
- Present key concepts or recap information in a list.
- Define important terms.
- Add clarity to the steps in a process or set of instructions.
- Link to additional information or resources.
Notes
- Mobile - List styles will adjust their left margin slightly for mobile devices.
- You do not have to use the timeline style for creating a timeline, though this is its original purpose. You may use it for anything you want the line to connect the steps in the list.
- You are welcome to change the font size of your list content, but be aware that this does not change the size of the numbers or checkboxes.
- The numbered lists can support up to 99 list items.
- The long list is intended for longer content, such as steps in an assignment. While accordions are an effective option here, they are automatically collapsed, which is not always the desired behavior.
You may use nested lists (indenting to create another “level” of the list) with these lists. On the ordered lists, indenting will reset the numbers to 1 for the indented list.
