Technology Requirements, Skills, and Resources

Although you don't need to be an expert with technology, you do need to be familiar with your computer system and be able to solve problems when they occur. Lack of the following skills will hinder your success in this online course.

Required Technology Hardware & Software Requirements

  • Computer access to view and interact with our Canvas course.
  • Internet Access: High-speed internet connection, such as DSL or a cable modem. Your internet connection is critical for viewing digital videos and participate in web conferencing if required.
  • Audio: A working sound card and speakers will be required.
  • Webcam & Microphone: In the unlikely event that the University transitions to online instruction, our class will require a microphone and webcam to complete tests/assignments/projects and interact with classmates/instructor.

Recommended Technology Skills

  • Search the Internet and World Wide Web using a Web browser efficiently and effectively
  • Bookmark and retrieve websites
  • Know how to start and use computer applications such as a word processor and e-mail with attachments
  • Understand netiquette
  • Basic file management
  • Evaluate sources found on the Internet for validity and reliability
  • Access library books and periodicals over the Internet
