.
These tools come with a limited number of preset color options. Many of these preset options are not accessible, so be careful if you use these options.
White Background Accessible Colors
On a white background, only 5 colors are high enough contrast for most text sizes: Dark Red, Dark Purple, Dark Blue, Navy Blue, and Black.
Black Background Accessible Colors
On a black background, 13 colors are accessible for most text sizes: Light Green, Light Yellow, Light Red, Light Purple, Light Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, Blue, Light Gray, Medium Gray, Gray, and White.
CUSTOM COLORS IN CANVAS
You can also set custom colors in Canvas by selecting the palette icon in the bottom-right corner of the color tool. This will bring up a Color Picker tool, which you can use to select any color.
Colors on the web are defined through a 6-digit hex code, which you will see in the Color Picker next to the # symbol. This hex code is also what you will put in the WebAIM Contrast Checker Links to an external site. tool to manually check your color contrast.
Continue on to take a quick, 3-question quiz about color accessibility or skip the quiz and go to Step 7.
