Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

The content in this course is designed around Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Links to an external site.. WCAG 2.1 (published in 2018) are the most universally accepted accessibility standards for the web. There are 13 main guidelines across 4 main principles of web accessibility: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust. Each guideline includes multiple success criteria, divided into conformance levels A-AAA. Level A is a minimum standard, while Level AA is a commonly used standard for many organizations, such as the federal government. Level AAA is the highest level, and it covers almost all possible accessibility cases. The advice in this course is focused on Level A and Level AA success criteria.
